Shimenawa Neujahrs-Dekoration /

What is Shimenawa?

Shimenawa acts as a “barrier” that separates the realm of God from this world, and inside becomes a safe place. So the gods feel at peace of mind. They are often found at Shinto shrines, Torii gate. They are usually placed after Christmas, with an exclusion of December 29 and 31. On Dec. 29 is assosiated with 9 (KU苦=Bitter, pain) and on Dec. 31 is “one-night decoration“. We should avoid these 2 days. Wishing the New Year’s gods will bring you good luck and happiness for coming year! =================================================

Was ist Shimenawa?
